Heritage Open Days

Between 09 and 12 September, the following attractions are celebrating the fantastic architecture and culture in the area.  It's a once-a-year chance to discover hidden treasures and enjoy a wide range of tours, events and activities in 1066 Country.

Bateman's will be open on Saturday 11 September between 11am and 5pm.

King John's Lodge will be open on Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 September between 10am and 5pm.

Bodiam Castle will be open on Friday 10 September between 10.3am and 4.30pm.

Lamb House will be open on Saturday 11 September.

Winchelsea Methodist Chapel will be open on Saturday 11 September between 10am and 5pm.

All these attractions will be free of charge on these dates as part of Heritage Open Days, there's something for everyone!


Race, Run and Ride at Bedgebury

Three ways to get fit and have fun for charity!  The challenge is which one to go for at Bedgebury Pinetum.

Rat Race Green Belter Challenge: 04 September

A multi-sport activity challenge including running, cycling, kayaking and an obstacle course.  Featuring TV personality Matt Dawson and celebrity chef Mitch Tonks, it's a family day, with a post-race BBQ and free camping on Saturday night.  Visit www.ratracegreenbelter.com for further information.

Marie Curie Great Forest Run: 11 September

Annual charity 10k run round Bedgebury Forest.  Visit www.mariecurie.org.uk for further information.

Insomnia Night Cycle Ride: 18 and 19 September

An amazing 12 hour cycling endurance event.  Entry fee £25 (adult).  Visit www.bhf.org.uk for further information.


Savour the Season

The first ever Food and Wine Fair takes place at 1066 Battle of Hastings, Abbey and Battlefield between 04 and 05 September.  The fair provides an opportunity to taste and buy a great range of food direct from local producers, meet medieval cooks and learn about the methods used in traditional cooking.

A perfect opportunity to buy delicious gifts and once you finished exploring the medieval encampments, why not practice your aim with the have-a-go archery team!
