The contemporary art scene in 1066 Country centres around the De La Warr Pavilion and the Hastings Contemporary (formerly Jerwood Gallery). These two icons draw thousands of people to the coast, with their regularly changing programme of famous national and international artists.

The blackShed gallery in Robertsbridge also has a contemporary focus, showing mainly artists from the south-east of England, many of whom have an international reputation.

Hastings Museum & Art Gallery hosts rich and varied collections, including fine and decorative arts, local and natural history, and world art, with significant Native American collections.
