Where the wooded hills of the Sussex Weald stretch down to England’s south coast, you find 1066 Country. This ridge of ancient sand and clay meets the sea in some places with shingle and sandy beaches, in others with soaring sandstone cliffs.

You'll find dinosaur footprints, an ancient sunken forest at Pett Level, shipwrecks, and networks of smugglers' caves. Ancient woodlands, shingle bays, fine white sand dunes, and cliffs so steep they boast the UK's steepest funicular railway.
