22nd annual Dragon Boat Festival at Bewl Water.
Since the event began in 1998, over £2.7 million has been raised for more than 400 local, national and international charities.
Up to 60 Dragon Boat teams with crews of 16 paddlers in fancy dress (plus a drummer) race in Chinese-style Dragon Boats over a 250-metre course. Crews do not need to be super fit or skilled to be successful - all that's required is teamwork and a good sense of fun! There's plenty to do for spectators and supporters too - stalls, cycling, fishing, camping, walking. All the delights of Bewl Water for you to enjoy.
Dragon Boat racing is steeped in mythology and has been around for many thousands of years in China. Popular legend has it that through the racing, Chinese dragons would bring rain. We hope this will not be the case in September.
Boats, helms, safety equipment, buoyancy aids and rescue boats are all provided.
The event in 2018 set a new bench-mark with all available charity team boats booked by June. BOOK EARLY to guarantee your boat, as places are limited. Go to www.bewlwater.co.uk to download the application form and for more information about the day.
