This free illustrated talk by Steven Whitford explores the origins and general history of British roadside letterboxes, and the evidence of that history in Hastings.
The talk is in two parts: the first part covers the general history of the postal service and roadside letterboxes in the British Isles, with a focus on the different styles of letterboxes over time; the second part looks at the evidence of the history of letterboxes that can be seen in Hastings today.
Event arranged by Pom Press in support of Old Hastings Preservation Society. No admission charge, but donations to OHPS please.
This is a free, drop-in event. Part of Hastings Week 2022.
