You know what the Royal Navy does, but how much do you know about the supporting services required to keep it afloat?
The Royal Fleet Auxiliary (RFA) is the uniformed civilian service which supports the Royal Navy. Its ships, some carrying helicopters, provide global logistical and operational support across a range of tasks, from warfighting and counter-piracy to humanitarian missions and disaster relief.
Captain Jeremy Carew, OBE, RFA, (Master Mariner) was at sea for 42 years from Apprentice to Captain in Command, RFA.
Using large screen images and video footage, Captain Carew will give a one-hour illustrated talk covering the history of the Royal Fleet Auxilliary from 1905 to present day, and the Falklands War as he experienced it on his ship RFA Olmeda.
The talk, at the Shipwreck Museum, Rock-a-Nore Road, Hastings, is on Tuesday, 3rd September at 7pm. Admission : £4.
Places are limited so to book in advance telephone the museum on 01424 437452.
