We proudly present a fantastic Saturday night of Funky Acid Jazz with the acclaimed James Taylor Quartet aka JTQ plus support from the Fabulous Red Diesel on Saturday 25th January 2020 at St Mary In The Castle, Hastings.
JTQ is a British four-piece jazz funk band, renowned for their live performances. They were formed in 1987 by Hammond organ player James Taylor following the break-up of his former band The Prisoners in the wake of Stiff Records' bankruptcy.
The current line-up is James Taylor (Keyboards and Orchestration), Mark Cox (guitar), Andrew McKinney (bass) and Pat Illingworth (drums), although recordings and live performances usually feature vocalist Yvonne Yanney.
"One of the great British Hammond organ players of his generation" Nitin Sawhney
"Taylor's organ sound first sears the ears and then goes straight to the feet" Garry Booth, BBC Music Magazine
"Taylor is one of our finest jazz organists… A musician who has forged his own path… His playing is snappy and crisp" David Lands, Jazz Journal
Demand will be extremely high for this special concert so we encourage you to book early!
The Fabulous Red Diesel will be supporting JTQ with their highly original jazz orientated band of quirky unconventional players; playing song based jazz with soaring vocals, hooks, grooves, soul and the occasional tuba.
