Palestine on the Pier is a free cultural festival for the whole family, featuring, on the Main Stage:
• A catwalk show of hand-embroidered heritage dresses from Palestine – a UK first!
• World class musician Samer Rashed from occupied East Jerusalem with his band playing their unique blend of folk, gypsy, jazz and Arabic music.
• Hawiyya Dance Company, an all-female group performing an original piece of contemporary storytelling combined with folkloric dabke dance.
• Popular Brighton-based duo Jamal and Alaa playing traditional Arabic folk on the oud and percussion.
On the top deck in the Children's Corner there is a kite-making workshop with community-based creatives Arts on Prescription and imaginative interactive storytelling sessions with Palestinian play specialist Elias Mater. There is also a bustling marketplace crammed with beautiful handicraft, stunning jewellery, authentic Palestinian keffiyehs, hand-painted ceramics, tatreez embroidered bags, wallets and purses, art, books, t-shirts and much more!
And don't miss the chance to sample mouth-watering Palestinian cuisine at our food and drink stalls along the lower deck: falafel wraps from Arwa, chicken shawarma and kofte from Khalid's Kitchen, Chef Momo's delicious mabrousheh and Knafeh desserts and L2K's thirst-quenching Palestinian Limonana.
Curious to learn more? Find out about Palestinian lives and explore the link between cultural heritage and identity at our Talking Tent on the lower deck.
