Come to the modern kitchen classroom at the Stade in the heart of Hastings Old Town and learn how to make delicious Sourdough Bread, with a no knead method that can easily fit into your daily life. See the different stages of dough fermentation and the various techniques needed to build the structure of the loaf. Bake your own loaf to take home with you, and while it's baking, have a delicious lunch (including sourdough of course!).
You will also take home some of my very own active sourdough starter "Winnie" and various recipe sheets.
This is a course designed for anyone interested in learning to bake with natural, wild yeast, to eat healthier bread than commercial loaves, that is much more easily digested, often even by those with gluten intolerances. No experience necessary.
See and feel the dough in various stages of development. You will also learn about how to maintain your starter and some other delicious ways to use it. We will discuss the equipment needed to make sourdough and some alternative kitchen sourdough hacks. Come with an apron, prepared to get your hands into some dough - gloves available too!
Various organic flours and equipment will be available for purchase on the day (please bring cash).
* Places are limited to ensure social distancing can be adhered to. The Classroom on the Coast is large enough for this to be achieved.
** Please advise any food allergies prior to the course.
